Paint’s impact on the environment is indicated by it grams of VOCs per liter (VOC stands for volatile organic compounds). A regular latex flat paint has on average about 250 grams per liter and an alkyd paint (oil-based) can have more than 400 grams/liter.

The new Benjamin Moore Aura is a low VOC paint - it has only 50 grams/liter. And the new Benjamin Moore Natura has ZERO grams/liter of VOCs.

Paint makers add ingredients into paint formulations for a lot of reasons.
Formulations are designed to achieve performance traits like washability or toughness or dry time among many others. Typically the ingredients containing VOCs add superior performance. So there was an inherent trade-off between a paints VOC level and its performance.

But that trade-off is no longer an issue thanks to Benjamin Moore and its new patented waterborne paint technology. Benjamin is introducing Natura, its new zero voc paint. The Natura, containing zero grams/liter, is free of VOCs. This makes Nature environmentally friend and virtually odorless.

But the simple fact of a paint that contains zero VOC is nothing new because 0 VOC paints have been available for years. But unlike other zero voc paints, the Natura is a high-performance paint product - this is exciting. No longer do people have to settle for a low quality paint in order to use an environmentally friendly product. The Natura offers top quality washability, fade resistance, durability and the ability to use any color.

Moreover, Natura is available in any color and remains zero VOC even after adding these colorants. Other zero voc paints only remain zero voc until tinted. Natura is zero vocs/liter regardless of the tinting - Any color, Zero VOCs.

The new Benjamin Moore Natura is available in several finishes: primer, flat, eggshell or semi-gloss finishes.
